We can be determined by our public protection figures. We can be determined by our permit figures. Although each of these identifiers can be used to recognize individuals, within a given perspective one identifier may be more appropriate than another.

For example, the computer systems at the IRS (the notorious tax-collecting organization in the U. S. States) want to use fixed-length public protection figures rather than document of a beginning titles.
